Got another flyer in the mail today....

A Local cable company and internet provider sent out a flyer today announcing an increase in internet speeds from 2 Mbps to 3 Mbps and you don't have to do a thing it should have automatically increased on March 1st and there is no cost increase.   This is nice for those of you whom don't have another choice say Centurylink 12 Mbps (current rate in Nashua), Exede 12 Mbps (satellite), Windstream for about the same price or less.

As I was reading this flyer the second page mentions that at the same time (March 1st) the cable bill will be increasing.  They do mention that this is due to rate increases from local broadcasters and cable TV programmers so if you have the basic cable setup your price will go from $39.95 to $44.95 pretty much a $5 increase for all packages available.

What I don't get is this....  they mention that ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC are charging a rebroadcasting fee from a signal that is free.. thats right free..  if you were to go buy a $50 dollar antenna and put it on a pole on your roof and plug it into the house cable you can get 25 or so channels ... depending on the type of antenna and which way its pointing.

We get the local channels from Mason City, Rochester, Albert lea,  Waterloo, Cedar rapids most all an hour or two away.  On top of that we get all the IPTV channels as well.  I know I have mentioned all this before but I find it quite insane that the prices keep going up when there are free ways to watch most everything you want.
