I got some mail today about the Qwest/Centurylink internet deal. Qwest merged with
Centurylink , they have been busy trying to get guaranteed customers for awhile
so they have a special lock in price of 19.95 for five years "if you have a home phone"
(most people still have a home phone).
I know changing your internet provider is a slight hassle but if you do these simple things
you can avoid that being a hassle and save a ton of money and get better service.
1. Get your email from an online email service. Yahoo, hotmail, Gmail, Mail.com this way
you don't have to worry about having to tell everyone your email has changed. this will
also avoid downloading email to your computer which is the main highway for virus'
2. Check to see if you can keep the same phone number if you don't have Qwest for home
phone service that usually is a deal breaker, some people have had the same phone number
for years.
if you are like us and have cell phones and a home phone the home phone is probably not
used as much anyway people keep them for emergencies.
typically internet is around 45 dollars a month which is 540 dollars a year so that is 240 a
year in savings and 1200 dollars for 5 years
There maybe quite a few of you that are using cable maybe butler-bremer which gives you a 1 to 2 Mbps connection when Centurylink will give you a 7Mbps line and up to 40 for major cities so just changing over to a new better service will give you better speeds.
Update: 11/3/11
I did receive more snail mail today and this offer is still going on 19.95 for internet
access for the next 5 years as long as you have a Quest/Centurylink home phone
